Quiet Sunday

Ditmars Blvd, a few blocks from my apartment.

Astoria Bagel Shop & Deli.

Anne, remember when we had bagels before you left, and you schooled me in true New York bagel consumption? I think I've finally committed to memory Lesson #1: You look like an amateur if you ask for it toasted. The bagel should be fresh enough that it's still hot.

Rosario

A couple of weeks ago I spent the weekend in a small city called Rosario, with Elise and her friends Nick and Min Jee, who were in town from New York. We had planned to spend the weekend relaxing on one of the beaches along the Río Paraná, but the weather had other plans.

On Sunday the sun came out. Below, proof we made it to the beach, albeit briefly.

juicy

I moved in to my fully furnished apartment to find the kitchen lacking in some essential items (i.e. pot lids.) However, I have a juicer! Fresh squeezed OJ is a good way to start the day.

End of the beginning

I still can't quite believe everything that happened in Washington, DC during the weekend of President Obama's inauguration. During an interfaith "MLK Shabbat" on Friday, Jan 16, the speaker told a weepy, cheering crowd to celebrate this victory all weekend, yes, but to think of this "not as the beginning of the end of all our hard work, but rather, the end of the beginning."

My camera broke on Sunday night, after my best friend's wedding (l) and the concert on the Mall (r), but before (among other things) a Ludacris/Nelly concert, the actual swearing in, and the balls. I managed to collect the images I do have into a couple of albums: one for the wedding, and one documenting the rest of the hullabaloo.
